Kehlani Returns With Another Break-Up Anthem "Toxic"
Singing about the addicting nature of saying goodbye.
Kehlani has had a tumultuous past few months. The GRAMMY-nominanted singer expressed her love for partner YG with “Konclusions” only to release the break-up anthem “Valentine’s Day (Shameful)” three days later. Earlier this year she debuted her vibrant, pop-infused “All Me/Change Your Life” dual-sided single and was a featured guest on Justin Bieber’s “Get Me”. Now Kehlani returns with “Toxic”, an emotional, seductive track about the addicting nature of love.
The relatable chorus begins, “And that damn Don Julio made me a fool for you/ And I still hit your phone up…” a relatable a sentiment to the instability toward a relationship’s end. G.Ry and KBeaZy collaborated on the production while Kehlani penned the sexy albeit heart-breaking song. Perhaps “Toxic”‘s themes are best expressed through the green-tinted album cover, where Kehlani washes her hands (featuring some seriously sharp nail extensions).
Listen to “Toxic” and in more music updates, YNW Melly and Juice WRLD plan to team-up for the new “Suicidal” Remix.
