Flume and Toro y Moi Know the End is Near With "The Difference" Video
“Just another world that I gotta get a grip of and hold onto.”
Flume is one of the most collaborative artists doing his thing right now, often bringing his features to a new territory that they haven’t explored yet themselves. The Australian GRAMMY-winner teamed up with Vera Blue for “Rushing Back”, Reo Cragun for the three track EP Quits and JPEGMAFIA for the standout cut “How to Build A Relationship” from Hi This Is Flume (a song that has since inspired Peggy to release a series of documentary episodes under the same name). Now he returns for “The Difference” featuring Toro y Moi, an homage to the impending doom that the world could be headed toward, but with a contrasting upbeat backing track while Chaz Bear croons about bringing his planetary experiences with him to the next chapter, whatever that may be.
“The Difference” music video director Jonathan Zawada utilizes a split screen frame with Toro y Moi while Flume runs through the sunny Los Angeles streets, his impressive stamina lasting the song’s entire two-and-a-half minutes. Hallucinatory paint splatters on Chaz’s face as he sings, “I don’t know about you but I got to get it out and I don’t know how soon/ But if we die, I want to bring the whole thing.” The new single also scores the latest Apple Airpods Pro commercial.

“We made this song between a day at my place in LA and and a day at Chaz’s spot in Oakland,” Flume stated. “This was our first time working together, I’ve been a Toro Y Moi fan for a while. His song “Talamak” is a longtime favorite. I listened to that one a lot when I first started Flume as a project.”
