JPEGMAFIA Releases Part Two of 'How To Build A Relationship' Short Film Series
A close glimpse at Peggy’s creative processes.
Last week, we saw JPEGMAFIA sit down with Danny Brown in a short 15-minute episode of his new documentary titled How To Build A Relationship. Besides the conversation with Brown, the video also shows clips of Peggy in the studio with Denzel Curry as well as him delivering a cover of Mariah Carey‘s “Always Be My Baby.” Most recently, Peggy has just released part two of HTBAR.
The video begins with footage of the rapper performing an auto-tuned spin on Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe” in a crowded venue. After this, a series of cuts that share personal bits of Peggy’s life is reeled through: Peggy making a brief airport stop, explaining childhood photos and crafting background music from the sounds of a Nintendo Switch, accompanied by additional clips of live sets. The last part of the video jumps to a casual back-and-forth with Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li examining each other’s creative processes. The conversation covers everything from Peggy’s favorite Lykke Li songs, or methods they use to produce different sounds, to their divergent views on the genre of hip-hop, offering a slight glimpse at Peggy’s approach to his craft.
