Watch JPEGMAFIA Talk to Danny Brown in New Documentary
Peggy talks Trump re-election and covers Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby.”
JPEGMAFIA is back with a new documentary titled How To Build A Relationship 1: Part 1. The Baltimore, Maryland rapper had a major 2019 campaign thanks to the experimental, brash and emotional All My Heroes Are Cornballs. After his latest track and music visual that paid tribute to male patterned baldness in “BALD!”, Peggy released the intimate and free-flowing 15-minute video piece over the weekend that featured a revealing conversation with Danny Brown, footage of studio time with Denzel Curry and an auto-tuned cover of Mariah Carey‘s “Always Be My Baby.”
The rapper talks to friends about President Trump’s recent press conference in Atlanta. “Trump’s not playing by no playbook, and the Democrats are… that’s why they’re gonna lose…” JPEGMAFIA says mid-way through the short, edited through an x-ray filter. “…And he’s just winning and winning, and getting acquitted! He’s not losing. When I watch Jimmy Kimmel and shit, I’m like ‘yo, no one believes ya’ll no more. Like Trevor Noah and all them n*ggas, when they be joking, I’m just like, ‘nobody believe ya’ll!’ Him even being here is defiance of what ya’ll said could happen ‘cus ya’ll said that couldn’t happen. And he’s here, and he’s gonna win again and there’s just still n*ggas that making jokes. it’s just not funny anymore.”
Later, he sits in a hotel room with collaborator Danny Brown. They talk about the importance of time-off; Danny recently dropped uknowwhatimsaying¿ after a three year hiatus, but did say that he’s, “trying to drop an album as quick as [he] ever did” following the Q-Tip executive produced offering. The two even debate whether Brown is a “big rapper,” with the Detroit emcee surprisingly not considering himself one of the game’s biggest names.
