Casablanca x New Balance 327 Gets an Official Look
With colorways inspired by tennis uniforms and Moroccan oranges.
UPDATE (April 3, 2020): Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Casablanca x New Balance 327 release has been postponed until April 18. The online-only drop will occur on the Casablanca webstore as well as at select retail partners including KITH, SSENSE and Concepts.
ORIGINAL STORY (March 9,2020): After making its debut at Paris Fashion Week and featuring in the label’s Spring/Summer 2020 campaign, the Casablanca x New Balance 327 now receives official imagery. The Charaf Tajer-led label is the first brand to collaborate on the all-new silhouette, which takes cues from New Balance’s archive of running sneakers from the 1970s.
Releasing in two colorways — orange or green — the Casablanca collaboration is inspired by Tajer’s duel French-Moroccan heritage, with colors inspired by Moroccan oranges and tennis uniforms. The brightly-colored detailing sits alongside a white upper inspired by ’70s Italian sports cars, as well as suede vamp fans and an enlarged leather “N” logo on the sidewall.
Speaking about the collaboration, Tajer explained, “The design perfectly matches the aesthetic of Casablanca, it’s the ultimate leisure shoe. It’s an honor to partner with New Balance on this exciting new style as Casablanca’s first design collaboration. I know the brand works with few fashion houses so to be chosen to do this with a new silhouette is so special and unique for me.”
Take a look at the silhouette in the gallery above, and expect it to release globally via the New Balance web store on April 4.
