Bethesda Softworks and id Software‘s upcoming DOOM: Eternal is slowly approaching its release date. To whet the appetite of fans, IGN has showcased the first 10 minutes of gameplay footage from the sequel to 2016’s gory reboot in glorious 60fps/4K resolution.
In the visuals above, we see an interstellar view of Earth as demonic hexagrams begin to form all around the planet. As the armies of Hell slowly begin to invade, the protagonist, Doom Slayer, approaches the scene. Cutting to in-engine gameplay, we see the game’s tutorial introducing players to staple DOOM mechanics, including the fast-paced shooting and chainsaw-wielding, eventually getting players more familiar with the title’s assortment of sci-fi guns as they begin to disembowel zombies, monsters and other ill-tempered foes.
DOOM Eternal will be released on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. The Nintendo Switch iteration is scheduled to be released later this year.
In other gaming news, Nintendo has announced that it will not be releasing a new Switch in 2020.
