Summer Walker and Usher's "Come Thru" Video Is a Dreamy Homage to Atlanta
The standout track from ‘Over It’ finally gets a proper visual treatment.
Summer Walker‘s debut album Over It was a revelation. She also made some history with the project, earning the top spot for R&B streams by a female artist. It was the first time that had happened since Beyoncé’s Lemonade (which had held the position since 2016) and it became the second most-streamed R&B album of all time, second only to The Weeknd’s Starboy. Over It was an easy selection as one of our Top 10 Albums of 2019. After all of the accolades and occasional threats to quit making music, Summer returns with a new visual for her standout track “Come Thru” featuring Usher.
The “Come Thru” video, directed by Lacey Duke, is a hypnotic ode to Summer’s hometown of Atlanta, shot on location at the famous 285 Flea Market. The track features a sample of Usher’s 1997 classic “You Make Me Wanna,” so it was only right to feature the R&B icon not only on the song but in the video as well. Tracking shots of neon-lit motorcycles, muscle cars paired with smoke machines and Usher breaking out some vintage dance moves dressed in all white makes for a memorable video. Watch above.
You can catch Summer Walker at Coachella 2020 and in the meantime, stay tuned for that acoustic album that collaborator and boyfriend London On Da Track announced back in November.
