Mick Jenkins Debuts New "Carefree" Music Video for Upcoming 'The Circus' Project (UPDATE)
The project is produced by Black Milk, Hit-Boy, IAMNOBODI, and more.
UPDATE (January 7, 2020): Mick Jenkins returns with a sunset-flooded visual for “Carefree,” the first single off of his upcoming project The Circus which drops this Friday, January 10. The Chicago emcee has continued to pave his own lane on his own terms, and the Jack Begert-directed short is no exception. Spinning shots of Mick stretched out over sand on an anonymous beach, freeze frames of the scenery and people around him and intimate campfires with friends create the signature thoughtful introspection that has been championed by Mick throughout his career. Things aren’t all good once the sun sets though, as Mick reminds his viewers of the danger that comes with police involvement through what should be a routine traffic stop. Watch the video above and stay tuned for The Circus coming Friday.
ORIGINAL STORY (1/3/2020): Mick Jenkins has announced a brand new seven-track project titled The Circus, out January 10 via Free Nation/Cinematic Music Group. To commemorate the announcement, Mick has shared the project’s first single called “Carefree,” produced by acclaimed super-producer Black Milk.
As is expected from the Chicago-based artist, the new song retains his characteristically soulful grooves. The Circus will feature a plethora of varying producers, including Hit-Boy, and IAMNOBODI, and will feature a cameo from Atlanta Dreamville duo EarthGang on “The Light.” Mick Jenkins recently featured on Kaytranada’s sophomore BUBBA LP, and released his first new single since 2018’s Pieces of a Man project, “Percy.”
