Kenzo Minami and Reebok Continue Collaborative Efforts With Zig Kinetica R58
Covered in the artist/designer’s signature patterns and prints.
Artist/designer Kenzo Minami and Reebok‘s collaborations are continuing with a new take on the Zig Kinetica R58. Following closely in the footsteps of the pair’s recent Instapump Fury, this Kinetica is doused in Minami’s signature patterns, prints and graphics. Even the R58 moniker is special: it nods to 1958, the year Joe and Jeff Foster founded Reebok.
Giving off an air of propulsion with its wavy, textured upper and cut-out midsole, Minami’s Zig Kinetica is presented in a white/black colorway and equipped with a plethora of special details. The entire upper is coated in multiple graphic embellishments, and this ethos even continues onto the midsole, which features many of the same prints and patterns under its translucent rubber construction. Yellow heel clips with a jagged print add colorful contrasts.
Despite its bold graphics, the Kinetica’ is firmly performance-geared, combining three Reebok technologies — Floatride Fuel, a Zig Energy Shell and Zig Energy Bands — for a ride that’s simultaneously responsive and supportive. Final colored hits grace the tongue, and the insoles alternate between blue on the left shoe and red on the right.
“The concept of this Zig Kinetica is the abstract interpretation of time and space – breaking through the barrier, going into warp speed, distortion of the space, dimensional jump, and so on,” said Minami. “I also wanted the silhouette to suggest the abstract impressions of a launching pad and rocket booster, which themselves are made of sound waves, shock waves, signals & patterns, and abstract representations of time and space combined.”
The Kenzo Minami x Reebok Zig Kinetica R58 will release on the Reebok webstore January 17 for $160 USD.
Elsewhere, Lil Jupiter and K-Swiss‘s partnership is continuing with a LUISAVIAROMA-exclusive CR-Terrati.
