2019 was unquestionably the year of afrobeat, the West African musical genre that spread across the globe like wildfire. Burna Boy remained the face of this newly-emphasized movement, fusing contemporary hip-hop and more alongside traditional afrobeat in his breakout project African Giant, which earned him a nomination for Best World Music at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. Now the Nigerian singer-songwriter is back with a hazy music video for “Secret” featuring Jeremih and Jamaican dancehall artist Serani.
A highlight from African Giant, “Secret” is a fun-filled track that features a load of feel-good energy. In the music video for the track, all three artists can be seen in various dimly-lit settings as they perform their verses.
