'The Last of Us Part II' New Trailer Reveals Official Release Date
Shown in Sony’s recent “State of Play” livestream.
The release date for the hotly anticipated sequel to Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us has been in question since the game was originally unveiled in 2016. Now a new trailer for The Last of Us Part II has debuted on PlayStation‘s “State of Play” livestream, finally giving fans a confirmed release date alongside previously unknown information.
Previous footage showcased Ellie from the original game has grown up a bit and has a new love interest in a new Western civilization. However, when someone close to her is attacked, Ellie plots revenge on the group of people responsible. The new trailer, however, shockingly reveals that the original game’s protagonist Joel will be making a return, although not everyone is convinced he survived the events of the first game.
The original The Last of Us followed Joel and a younger Ellie traversing across the post-apocalyptic United States in search of a cure for the modern fungal plague that has nearly decimated the entire human race. This new game follows the two after a fair amount of time has passed.
Check out the trailer above, and grab The Last of Us Part II when it arrives February 21, 2020, for PlayStation 4.
