Nas Pits Beauty Against Destruction in "War Against Love" Video
The second video from his ‘The Lost Tapes 2’ album.
Following up to Nas‘ The Lost Tapes 2 release in July, the rapper shared a video for the opening song, “No Bad Energy,” last month. Now, the New York native has followed up with the official visuals for “War Against Love,” which pits images of beauty against those of destruction to encourage love as the answer to fixing the world’s pressing issues.
The video was directed by Jason Goldwatch and, in tandem with Nas’ lyrics, tells the story of historic events present and past. “‘War Against Love,’ from his critically-acclaimed album, The Lost Tapes 2, fearlessly spotlights the historic and current discourses we face,” read a description on the YouTube channel for Mass Appeal, the record label which Nas co-founded.
“With peaceful displays of humankind’s achievements and nature’s beauty paired with difficult scenes of man-made destruction, the message is clear; it is our duty to learn from humanity’s fraught history and move forward in the name of love.” Scroll above to see how the collage all came together in the video.
Elsewhere for the rapper, he was recently named to Forbes’ list of the highest-paid hip-hop acts for 2019.
