Lyft Now Includes Bikes, Subways, Scooters & More in Addition to Ride-Share Vehicles

Lyft has just announced that it will be expanding its platform outside of ride-share vehicles to accommodate all forms of available transportation modes, including bikes, shared rides, scooter, walking to and taking the subway, bus and car rental. The ride-share company will be releasing changes throughout the next few weeks that will transition the app into a one-stop-shop for all transportation needs.

Google Maps has been the mainstay in the overall transportation app department for quite some time, but Lyft is now drumming up some strong competition. Upcoming changes to the Lyft app will include the ability to toggle back and forth between each mode of transportation listed on the app through various visual modes. A new “single-mode selector” helps users navigate price by allowing them to compare costs across all methods without leaving the app. Lyft will also be adding a live, in-app map that displays every transportation option nearby, not limited to ride-share vehicles. This feature will be similar to the map Lyft already uses, except it will include many more transit options.

Elsewhere in transportation, Tesla’s million-mile batteries may be on the way.
