Fans of upcycling guru Nicole McLaughlin will have a chance to get their hands on her one-of-a-kind creations, as the designer will be launching an exclusive capsule with Reebok tonight in New York. McLaughlin, who previously worked with the sportswear company as a graphic designer, has created 17 pieces from upcycled and vintage Reebok gear that showcases her unique penchant for deconstruction.
Styles to be offered in the assortment include footwear, apparel and bags that have been reworked with abstract shapes and features. One of the shoes in the mix features a bright blue upper with mesh detailing and a drawstring closure, seemingly changed from a sack to a pair of nifty slip-ons. The totes are mashed together from several leather elements and various product parts, including Reebok’s trademark “Pump” mechanism. Meanwhile, jackets skew more conventional, with options like a navy windbreaker coming patched with utility pockets at the chest for a contemporary streetwear aesthetic.
The collection will be available tonight at the Reebok store in Union Square from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST. Visit Reebok’s website to sign up for a chance to take part in the action.
