Take a Behind-The-Scenes Look at the Herschel Supply x SANKUANZ Bag Collab
Featuring designers Jon Warren and Shagguan Zhe.
Following the release of the SANKUANZ x Herschel Supply FW19 bag collection, the Vancouver-based accessories brand is taking fans behind the scenes of the collaboration. Jon Warren, VP of product design for Herschel Supply came together with designer Shagguan Zhe of the Xiamen-based fashion label SANKUANZ to speak about the design process and development of the latest utilitarian bags.
Inspired by diving equipment and the military, the multi-purpose packs hit the runway for SANKUANZ’s Fall/Winter ‘19 show during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, showing off the combined sensibilities of the two brands. The collection of highly technical silhouettes comes in various sizes — the Trident Large backpack, Trident Mid backpack that also functions as a chest rig, and Trident Small leg pack that doubles as a crossbody. Each versatile piece can be attached together and worn as a full set or styled individually. Turning the concept into reality, however, was not without challenges as seen in the video above. “It’s harder to make something aesthetically beautiful that functions,” explains Warren. “We really found the sweet spot.”
Go behind-the-scenes of the collaboration in the video above. The collection is available now in select retailers including DOE Shanghai Tongren and DOE Shenzen, with prices ranging from $499 USD to $799 USD.
