UPDATE (September 12, 2019): A gory new trailer for Amazon Prime Videos’ Blade of the Immortal has surfaced, showcasing blood-soaked kills based directly from the manga panels they’re inspired from. The first season is expected to arrive on October 10.
Original Story (Aug 10, 2019): Following the live-action film released two years ago, Blade of the Immortal is making a return, this time as a TV anime adapted from Hiroaki Samura’s original manga series.
Set during the mid-Tokugawa Shogunate period in Japan, Blade of the Immortal tells the tale of the samurai Manji who has been doomed with a curse that makes him live forever. In order to regain mortality, he must make amends for his wrongdoings by slaying 1,000 evil men. What ensues is a dark, spiraling adventure that poses some complex questions about morality.
