Lil Keed Is Keeping His Late Friend's Memory Alive
He also talks Atlanta slang and meeting Young Thug.
For the latest entry in our Conversations With interview series, HYPEBEAST linked up with Lil Keed, Young Thug’s protege, who’s been making a lot of noise in Atlanta. Keed sits down with us to discuss the meaning behind his latest project Long Live Mexico, meeting Thugger for the first time, Atlanta slang, and more.
In June, Keed released his highly-anticipated mixtape Long Live Mexico. The project followed up his 2018’s acclaimed Keed Talk to ‘Em. For Long Live Mexico, the YSL signee enlisted Lil Uzi Vert, YNW Melly, Lil Duke, Gunna, NAV, Young Thug, among others. The tape is a personal one for Keed as it pays homage to the rapper’s close friend who recently passed away.
“I wasn’t expecting him to die on me, I was just talking to him that night, he died that morning, I was on tour with Trippie Redd,” he explains, when discussing his last project.
Keed was featured on his Lil GotIt’s recent Crazy But It’s True album that dropped in March. GotIt and Keed are real-life brothers.
In other music news, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Keed and Lil Gotit connect for “Heavy Metal.”
