Atari 2600's Rarest Game Is Selling for $90,000 USD on eBay
It’s a knockoff of the critically panned ‘E.T. the Extra Terrestrial’ game.
Extra Terrestrials, a knockoff of the critically panned E.T. the Extra Terrestrial game for the Atari 2600, is going for $90,000 USD on eBay. It’s obscurity, alongside being manufactured a year after the video game crash of 1983, gives credence to its huge price tag, although an actual exact estimate is currently unknown. It’s going price has even beaten out the previously known rarest game for the Atari 2600, Air Raid, which went for $33,000 USD.
This self-published title from Burlington, Ontario’s Skill Screen Games currently has a copy reserved in The Personal Computer Museum of Brantford as well. The eBay seller, gamewizard69, states he is “the only confirmed private owner of this game right now” outside of the museum. The contents of which only consists of the cartridge itself in “acceptable conditions.”
