The PUMA Ralph Sampson Mid Makes Its Way From the Courts to the Streets
Furthering pushing vintage aesthetics.

An iconic sneaker that was part of PUMA‘s inaugural launch of basketball footwear makes a return. The latest Ralph Sampson Mid release takes the shoe from the courts of the 1980s into modern day street style. Playing up the model’s versatility, the editorial for the new colorway sees rapper Keith Charles Spacebar showcasing the shoe’s translational value.
Though its history with the fast-paced sport lies in the past, the silhouette’s structure still bares similar attributes to the original. The retro construction, at the time implemented to support Ralph Sampson’s dynamism, are now appreciated by a new fashion-conscious generation.
The shoe’s textured midsole aesthetically offers a patina-feel, further forwarding the vintage appeal. White dominates the leather upper which is contrasted by tonal blues hitting the Formstripe, heel counter and ankle lining. Elsewhere, a vibrant red adds a bold accent throughout the model. Embossed gold branding and logos round out the offering, alongside traditionally used emblems.
