Ralph Lauren has introduced the Western Cushion 38mm, a smaller take on its American Western Collection timepiece rendered in engraved sterling silver. The release arrives in three dial variations, each pairing the brand’s Western silverwork motifs with Swiss mechanical watchmaking underneath.
The case is where the Western Cushion 38mm makes its strongest statement, starting with a sculpted cushion shape machined from sterling silver rather than steel or gold. Its surfaces carry dense, intricate engraving, and the metal has been given a light aging treatment that settles into the recesses of the pattern, adding depth and contrast across the case. The trimmed-down 38mm sizing keeps that heavily worked silver wearable on a wider range of wrists.
Three dials sit inside that frame, each built with a different material approach. The Black Dial model uses deep black lacquer set against off-white numerals for a high-contrast read, while the Off-White Dial model reverses the palette with a lacquered off-white surface marked by black Roman and Arabic numerals. The standout is the Turquoise Dial model, whose dial is cut from natural turquoise and polished to bring out the stone’s veining, meaning no two pieces will look exactly alike.
Powering every version is the RL514, a self-winding manufacture movement that Piaget produces solely for Ralph Lauren. The calibre is finished with traditional Swiss decoration, including Côtes de Genève striping and perlage, details reserved for anyone who gets a look at the movement itself. Hand-finished touches carry through the rest of the watch, and each model comes fitted with interchangeable leather straps, letting the wearer shift the overall tone of the piece without changing the watch.
