Netflix has officially greenlit an upcoming original stand-up special from comedian Aziz Ansari. The hour marks the comic’s seventh stand-up special and his fifth original title developed for the streaming platform.
Ansari is scheduled to tape the performance at the State Theatre New Jersey on October 29. In addition to performing on stage, Ansari will direct the special and serve as executive producer alongside Marc Lieberman, with Above Average overseeing production. “I’m so excited to provide a quote for another press release about one of my projects,” Ansari noted. “If anyone is reading beyond the headline, please know I’m very excited about this special and I believe it’s my best one.”
The upcoming release builds upon an established collaborative history between Ansari and Netflix, stemming from his distinction as the first comedian to release an original stand-up special on the platform with 2013’s Buried Alive. The project follows his subsequent platform specials Live at Madison Square Garden (2015), Right Now (2019), and Nightclub Comedian (2022), alongside his two-time Emmy-winning comedy-drama series Master of None.
Aziz Ansari’s new stand-up special is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2027.
