KidSuper Turns Up the Theatrics for a Vibrant SS20 Display
Splashed with colorful hand-drawn illustrations and Spanish influences.

KidSuper put on a theatrical show for its Spring/Summer 2020 runway collection at Paris Fashion Week Men’s on Friday, titling the showcase accordingly with the phrase “Bull In A China Shop.” Set in the noted French circus venue Cirque d’Hiver Bouglione, the lively assortment was a vibrant display of color and culture.
The New York-based brand’s usual offering of youthful streetwear was amped up with Spanish influences this season. A range of colorful suits and matching denim sets pulled in references to traditional matador costumes, interpreted via fringes and all-over tasseled embellishments. Meanwhile, brand founder Colm Dillane leaned on a series of his own hand-painted illustrations as key prints and graphics across denim, tops and leather wares, including the watercolor button-ups and the standout jackets marked by abstract face designs.
The label’s KidSuper x PUMA jersey brought on the more direct sportswear references, while an exaggerated take on the utility belt (boasting more than seven bag compartments) provided a more avant-garde approach. Keeping the aesthetic eccentric all the way into the accessories, knitted caps shaped like crowns and horns, fuzzy face masks and wide-brimmed drawstring hats topped off the fits.
