Kevin Gates Breaks Down His Struggles with Love on "Return of the Mack"
The down-south star continues to serve up new sounds.
Kevin Gates continues to share new singles. Following the recent release of the Charlie Heat-assisted cut “I Got That Dope” and the March delivery of his “RGWN” music video, the down-south star is back with another solo offering, “Return of the Mack.” Like many of Gates’ past efforts, the DJ Chose-produced “Return of the Mack” is an emotional record that finds him recalling past struggles and wearing his heart on his sleeve.
“I took the pain and the hate when it came wit’ it (Bang) / Gave you a little taste of fame and you changed wit’ it / They told you not to f*ck wit’ me but you ain’t listen (Yes) / You used to f*ck me all night and now you ain’t different (Now you ain’t different),” Kevin Gates spits on “Return of the Mack. “I see you starin’ off in space like your brain missin’ / I used to grip on your little waist while my chain glisten / In the mirror makin’ faces while that thing in you / Come up and visit me in prison ’round the gang members (Gang) / I love to show you off ’cause you somethin’ serious (Uh) / Who you be textin’ all the time? I’m just curious.”
To promote his latest release, Kevin Gates has wiped his Instagram account nearly-clean, leaving only a post about “Return of the Mack.” Although Gates has yet to publicly share any details concerning his next major project, that sort of promo could be a sign that the rollout for a new album is imminent.
