On-Feet with the sacai x Nike LDWaffle Collection
A detailed look at four mashed-up running shoes.

Finally, sacai‘s stunning Nike LDWaffle sneakers are nearly upon us. Arguably one of the most desirable drops of the year, we’ve seen sneak peeks of the colorways that didn’t drop earlier this year, and now we get a comprehensive look at four of the five pairs (we’re missing the red/blue color scheme), courtesy of sneakerhead @yankeekicks.
After a surprise launch in Paris, the green and blue variations of sacai’s collaborative sneakers were the only models that trickled into the secondhand market, with the monochrome variants believed to be a Fall/Winter 2019 release. Not so, according to the most recent Nike update, which revealed that five iterations of the LDWaffle will be releasing later this month; along with the previously-seen versions, the monochrome runners will be joined by a new colorway, rich with purple and orange accents.
Seen on-feet, the streamlined shape of the sneakers comes to life, reinforcing the premium detailing and mind-bogglingly-clever layering seen throughout the design. Stacked midsoles, Swooshes, mudguards, and even laces yield a striking update to a classic Nike running sneaker silhouette, with plenty of contrasting hues for extra visual appeal. Mesh and suede co-mingle beneath the leather Swooshes, while two different tongue tags — Nike Sportswear and co-branded logos — appear on doubled-up tongues. Along with the black/white/grey and white/grey sneakers, the pink/green/orange/yellow model is currently unreleased; its bright tones atop a classic white midsole and black outsole help it slot neatly into the vibrant collection.
sacai’s LDWaffle Daybreak set drops on May 16, followed by the Blazer Mid on May 30 via a limited array of retailers.
Most recently, we went on-feet with Travis Scott‘s unreleased Air Jordan 1 Low “Cactus Jack.”
