'One Piece' Rejoins PUMA for Pirate Flag-Inspired LQD CELL
“Good vs Evil” motifs manifested by 3M accents.
The ongoing PUMA and One Piece collaborations continue, with the recent CELL VENOM sneaker followed by a new joint effort. This time, the duo have introduced a LQD CELL inspired by the ongoing battle of good and evil at the core of the manga series.
Like the CELL ENDURA that kicked off the joint efforts, the LQD CELL utilizes visual cues unshakably synced with the series’ main characters. The pirate flag design drawn by Luffy himself is applied to the toe of the sneaker in white, matching the tonal upper of the runner, which sports a single contrasting red hit on the outsole.
Naturally, this neutral image of the shoe reflects the “good” side; by hitting the sneaker with a flash of light, 3M accents appear, highlighting the “evil” concept. Half-and-half insoles and a complementary box underlines this motif, the latter juxtaposing artwork from series creator Eiichiro Oda with plain white paneling.
Expect the collaborative LQD CELL shoes to launch on PUMA’s Japanese site and at select stockists on December 13 for ¥16,000 JPY (approximately $150 USD).
Most recently, PUMA tapped Lauren London for a heartfelt tribute video to Nipsey Hussle.
