FKA twigs Covers the Jazz Standard "Summertime" for BBC Radio 1
She takes over Maida Vale studios for her latest performance.
Less than 48 hours before the arrival of FKA twigs‘ anticipated new studio album MAGDALENE, the acclaimed songstress is stopping by BBC Radio 1‘s Maida Vale studios for a special performance for Annie Mac’s Future Sounds With Annie Mac program. Specifically, the “home with you” artist served up a near-25-minute set, delivering live renditions of recently-released MAGDALENE singles like “cellophane,” as well as a performance of her cover of the jazz standard “Summertime.”
“I find it easy to write over complete musical randomness,” FKA twigs explained to The Guardian earlier this year, sharing some insight into the creative process the birthed MAGDALENE. “But that’s not what I wanted. I wanted something simpler, something honest. It felt like I’d made this ornate golden birdcage, and everything was so intricate – like tapestries and beading and beautiful wirework. And I stepped in and I locked the door and I was like, oh my gosh, this is actually a nightmare.”

Earlier this week, FKA twigs unveiled MAGDALENE‘s fourth single, “sad day.”
