FKA twigs Debuts Fourth 'MAGDALENE' Single "sad day"
Her sophomore LP is almost here.
Directly following a striking appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, FKA twigs continues to support and promote her forthcoming studio album MAGDALENE. This time around, the acclaimed songstress is following up last month’s self-directed clip for “home with you” by sharing another new track off MAGDALENE, choosing to use LP cut “sad day” as the full-length’s latest single.
“Mary Magdalene was less from the religious aspect and more just from the feminine. [I] was more looking at her as a woman and what she represented, what her archetype was. What was her true story? How was it manipulated?” FKA twigs recently explained to Zane Lowe, opening up about her upcoming project’s titular inspiration for an exclusive Beats 1 interview. “She was a healer, she had oils, she was an herbalist, she was am mystic, she was an amazing woman … I think as an artist, I’m incredibly blessed to be making what I am now. The options to me now feel endless. That’s really great because I just think that you can break the rules.”
You can take a look at the new music video for FKA twigs latest MAGDALENE single above. FKA twigs’ sophomore studio album MAGDALENE will hit streaming services and similar platforms this Friday, November 8 via Young Turks. As revealed in a Pitchfork cover-story, FKA twigs worked with Emmy nominee and Atlanta director Hiro Murai on a special visual for “sad day,” so expect that piece to emerge in the near future.
Back in September, FKA twigs linked up with Future for another MAGDALENE single, “holy terrain.”
