Juergen Teller Gets Risqué in Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS' GEL- KORIKA Campaign
The 55-year-old photographer strips down to show off the new sneakers.
Following a first look at the striking silhouettes, Kiko Kostadinov and twin womenswear designers Laura Deanna Fanning have introduced official imagery of the brand’s ongoing ASICS collaboration, shot and modeled by veteran photographer Juergen Teller. Offered in both mens’ and womens’ sizes, Teller wears both as the 55-year-old German vacations across Europe.
Matching the bold colorways to his tiny track shorts, Teller highlights the unmissable womens’ colors and the shiny metallic mens’ options side-by-side. Later, he juxtaposes the monochrome options against a field of sunflowers and even styles two mismatched pairs together for maximum contrast. Though they weren’t seen on Kostadinov’s Fall/Winter 2019 runway, the shoes are part of the seasonal Fall/Winter 2019 drops, which included the seasonal GEL-NEXPA capsule and standalone GEL-SOKAT INFINITY II models. The GEL-KORIKA is comparatively conventional in appearance, designed as a hybrid of the GEL-NIMBUS 21 with the GELBURST RS’ upper, sandwiching a FLYTEFOAM midsole for maximum cushioning. Differentiating the mens’ and womens’ models are the distinctive colorways, which realize the former in tonal metallic black and silver editions and the latter in bold red, pink, purple and blue iterations.
A Berlin pop-up shop will launch all four GEL-KORIKA models on November 8, with a global launch scheduled for November 16 — look for the shoes at stockists like Dover Street Market and SSENSE.
Meanwhile, ASICS is staying busy with its own rollout of in-house designs, including a striking GORE-TEX-lined GEL-FUJITRABUCO 7.
