Air Jordan 5 Surfaces in Refreshing "Island Green" Colorway
A soothing tropical vacation, Jordan Brand style.
As part of its fall/winter 2019 retro offerings, Jordan Brand has presented a new Air Jordan 5 colorway dubbed “Island Green.” Tropical vacation-indebted in both moniker and palette, the colorway adds a little warm weather flair to Jordan’s lineup, packed full of suitably bold details.
Originally unveiled as part of Nike/Jordan’s “Singles Day” collection for China, the AJ5 “Island Green” features a crisp white reflective upper that’s equipped with a tonal, textured palm tree print. Refreshing pops of teal then appear on the eyestays, throat, tongue and midfoot’s signature plastic netting. Branding is provided by a duo of Jumpman logos — black on the tongue, teal on the heel — while black laces and trim tie the upper together both literally and figuratively.
Down below, the black midsole features a speckled silver hit, an embellishment that legendary designer Tinker Hatfield drew from the P-51 Mustang fighter plane. Icy teal detailing on the outsole finalizes the beachy look.
As Michael Jordan‘s fifth signature sneaker nears its 30th year on the market, this well-deserved vacation of a colorway will release on Nike’s website and at Jordan Brand retailers November 11. The retail price is set at $225 USD.
Elsewhere, Nike and Kyrie Irving have unveiled the Kyrie 6 Preheat Collection, 11 city-exclusive styles inspired by Kyrie’s love of travel and affection for the number 11.
