The Patta x Air Jordan 7 "Icicle" Is Releasing This Weekend
Exclusively at Patta’s flagships and webstore.
After becoming the first European brand to receive a Jordan Brand collaboration by way of the Air Jordan 7 “Shimmer,” Amsterdam-based powerhouse Patta and the Jumpman are set to release a second co-created project: another AJ7, dubbed “Icicle.”
Patta co-founders Guillaume Schmidt and Vincent van de Waal have been ebullient in their acclaim for the Air Jordan 7, as both the shoe itself and the year it first released (1992) were tremendously influential on their brand. When asked about the inspiration behind the second design, van de Waal stated: “We wanted to give a classic shoe a modern feel, so we looked at OG colorways, in particular the 1992 ‘black/light graphite/bordeaux’ one. We refer back to that color-blocking but applied an uncommon color, light pistachio green. If the ‘Shimmer’ colorway was the brother of the OG, the ‘Icicle’ is its cousin.”
Where the aforementioned “Shimmer” offered a warm-hued mix, the “Icicle” cools things down for the fall, just as its name might suggest. Brown and tan shades return, but both see the aforementioned pistachio tint for a seasonally appropriate palette. The tongue and throat offer a stark-yet-sporty pattern, while grey and black are tossed into the mix on the midsole, outsole and laces. The midsole retains the repeating Patta branding from the first release, and the heel tab keeps its “Team Patta” text intact as well. Small pops of red on the collar and heel badge complete the look.
Although the “Icicle” has seen sporadic releases through the course of the year — appearing on the Nike SNKRS app in Europe and in limited quantities at Patta’s recent NYC pop-up — this is its first full release. It’ll be available October 18 at patta.nl and the Patta flagships in Amsterdam, Milan and London, with a retail price of $200 USD. A small restock of collaborative Patta/Jordan apparel will accompany the shoes as well.
