Ethical and minimalist brand PANGAIA has tapped Japanese artist Haroshi for a limited-edition capsule collection. The capsule will include four T-shirts featuring prints of the renowned artist’s sculptures made out of skateboards.

PANGAIA is committed to using upcycled or recycled materials for its garments, with an aim to “create a global open-source platform for the latest eco-innovations and solutions connecting like-minded individuals and organizations who care about the environment.” Its seaweed T-shirts are made of saltwater seaweed fiber and organic cotton. Treated with natural peppermint oil to remain fresher for longer, the shirts reduce water waste by up to 3,000 liters over their lifetime.

With a passion for solving environmental problems by using material sciences, PANGAIA is collaborating with an artist who is also dedicated to sustainability. Skateboarder and self-taught woodworker Haroshi utilizes upcycled skateboard pieces to create his sculptures. He places a broken skateboard within the core of each finished sculpture, giving it a “soul.” The capsule collection showcases both PANGAIA and Haroshi’s commitment to working with sustainable materials and reducing their environmental impact.

Expect the collection to drop October 29 on PANGAIA’s website.
