Herschel Supply Co. & G-SHOCK Launch First-Ever Watch Together

Following its recent collaboration with Gorillaz for an album-art inspired collaboration, Casio G-SHOCK returns with a new partnership. The Japanese brand is teaming up with Herschel Supply Co. for a co-branded Herschel G-Lide timepiece, marking the latter brand’s entrance into the watch market.

Herschel reimagines Casio’s G-SHOCK GLX5600-1 model, a favorite among surfers, athletes and streetwear enthusiasts. The military-inspired design is informed by a stainless-steel back cover engraved with “YOU CAN SURF LATER,” electroluminescent backlight technology and water and shock resistance. The watch comes in a matte ‘Army Green’ resin case with a similarly colored band. Equipped with a tide graph and moon data capabilities, the collaborative timepiece can be worn for all types of field and water activities.

Jamie Cormack, Co-Founder of Herschel Supply, describes the inspiration behind the watch’s design:

“‘YOU CAN SURF LATER’ is an engraving that was found on a now iconic Zippo lighter of an American soldier. The lighter was customized with words of inspiration to transform his lighter into a talisman of sorts to help him get through his tour of duty. We used that commitment as inspiration along with utility military design and applied them to all aspects and details of our Casio G-SHOCK collaboration. This ‘first watch’ is for the dedicated bunch on dawn patrol surf sessions that balance their daily lives with what drives them.”

The limited-edition watch will retail for $150 USD on Herschel and Casio G-Shock’s websites starting October 10.
