Known mostly for its bags, but certainly no stranger to the world of footwear, considering past collaborations with Frontier and Danner, Colorado-based Topo Designs is now joining forces with New Balance for co-branded shoes and accessories.
The collection’s centerpiece is an All Coasts 574 — a skate-geared iteration of the iconic New Balance 574 — that boasts an upper constructed of creamy suede and classic mesh sitting on top of a tan midsole and gum outsole. If you peer into the collar, you’ll spot a custom grid print on the sockliner. Pops of red and black provide visible flair, while rope laces and a dual-branded tongue badge finalize the look.
Of course, the board-ready shoes are accompanied by two new styles of Topo’s signature bags, both of which are constructed of the same supple suede as the shoes. The Rover Pack is a classic two-strap everyday backpack, while the Quick Pack is more of a versatile grab-and-go style that can either be slung over the shoulder or strapped around the waist.
The offering is rounded out by a long-sleeve tee that’s crafted from 100% cotton and features each brands’ logo on the chest, while the same grid print spotted on the All Coasts 574’s insoles appears down the sleeves.
As both companies have a knack for creating standout, modern-day interpretations of heritage goods, the partnership is a seamless one. Topo Designs founder Jedd Rose stated, “A collection with New Balance felt like a natural fit; both Topo Designs and New Balance are built on the idea of reimagining classic, quality products that last. This collaboration takes the best elements from both brands and combines them for a collection that truly goes anywhere.”
The collection will release on October 11 at New Balance’s webstore, topodesigns.com and at the five Topo retail locations in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, San Fransisco and New York City. The All Coast 574 retails for $85 USD, while the bags retail for $89 USD and $169 USD respectively.
