After a hugely successful collaboration last year, the Grammy and BRIT Award-winning British band Gorillaz have linked up again with G-SHOCK for a second collection. The new releases will consist of two different styles — the DW-5600 and the GA-2000 — drawing inspiration from two of the band’s hit albums Gorillaz and The Now Now. As with G-SHOCK’s usual products, both limited edition timepieces will come shock, vibration, and water-resistant.
The slimmer DW-5600 will take on the distinctive album art of The Now Now, with bright blues and pinks dressing up the otherwise largely black model on its dial and strap. When illuminated by the backlight, the screen also displays a two-toned “NOW” logo, making the watch a truly unique tribute to the 2018 album. Other functions include Bluetooth connectivity with G-SHOCK’s proprietary app, which allows you to control a variety of functions and settings straight from your smartphone.
As to the GA-2000 — one of G-SHOCK’s latest models — the chunkier timepiece will be graced with artwork from the British band’s eponymous debut album, featuring its iconic camo print on its straps with similar-toned green hour markers highlighting the black dial. The special edition watch will also come with a darker military-styled wrist band as well as a collector’s edition box plastered with images of the original Gorillaz characters from 2001.
For the Gorillaz and G-SHOCK fans out there, the new collaborative collection will be available on September 18 at G-SHOCK’s Carnaby Street Store in London, or g-shock.co.uk at 10 a.m. BST, both going for a price of £149 GBP, or roughly $186 USD.
Elsewhere in watches, Urwerk has introduced its $48,000 USD UR-100 SpaceTime.
