Tony Hawk Debuts His Lakai Proto Signature Shoe
The skate legend gets a new pro model.
Having officially joined Lakai last year, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has now introduced his debut signature shoe with the American footwear company. The new pro skate model, dubbed the Proto, draws inspiration from the ’80s and ’90s era, during which Tony greatly impacted skateboarding.
The Lakai Proto’s upper features unique panels built specifically for durability, the internal sock offers a snug fit, and the advanced XLK Hex-tread provides superb board feel. The tongue’s nylon webbing strap is a reference to the lace savers that skaters used to protect their laces with while doing knee slides, while the red/black/white colorway is a nod to some of Tony’s most iconic skate footage from the Bones Brigade video.
Tony Hawk’s Lakai Proto model launched last week in Tokyo and is available now at Lakai stockists worldwide. See the Instagram embed below for a retail list.
