Marni SS19 Mixes Graphics and Patterns Derived from Sports
For the love of the game.

Italian label Marni just showcased its Spring/Summer 2019 collection at Milan Fashion Week, one which highlighted a design theme based around the love of sport.
The brand pulled inspiration and influence from the attire found across different sports such as skating, boxing, racing, cricket and baseball. A technical aspect is shown as well in the fabric and material choice — polyester and heavy cotton are aligned with boiled mohair and nylon textures sourced from sportswear. Silhouette-wise, sportscoats with tailored fittings, drawstring pants, skater bottoms and more are styled alongside goods like sleeping bags repurposed into bomber jackets. Wrestling robes as well were seen on the runway, paired with polo shirts and bermudas while graphics, sourced from photographer Florian Hetz account for the graphic prints that are combined with various patterns and overlays.
