MM6 Maison Margiela has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 collection during Milan Fashion Week, challenging the unwritten rules of daily dressing through shifting proportions and modular constructions. The collection reimagines familiar menswear and womenswear archetypes for people on the move.
In womenswear, garments rotate around the frame—shirts relocate to function as skirts resting at the hip, V-neck tops adapt into bottoms, and skirts elevate into dresses. Taking cues from doll clothes, garments feature shrunken silhouettes and simplified closures alongside folded and re-fastened panels. Menswear takes a parallel approach with side-shifted collars and button plackets applied across classic tailoring, biker jackets, and everyday essentials, accented by starch treatments, overdyes, and painted papery textures.
The accessory line mirrors this playful approach to utility. Leather gloves transform into handbags or five-toed shoes, while the signature Soft Bauletto bag collapses to be carried under the arm like a garment. Capping off the presentation is a footwear partnership with Havaianas, which applies the number six as a design mechanism—splitting flip-flops into individual toes or stacking six distinctly shaped soles into a single platform.
