Dr. Dre Is Developing a New Marvin Gaye Movie
There’s no release date just yet.
Dr. Dre has reportedly begun developing a new Marvin Gaye biopic. Details about the project are currently scarce — it is still only in the early stages — although Dre is believed to have acquired the rights to Gaye’s music for the movie.
Gaye’s life has previously been the subject of Hollywood interest, as studios and producers attempted to turn the story into a movie. It wasn’t until 2016, however, that Gaye’s family gave their approval to one of these projects, with a new TV series set to star Jamie Foxx.
In related news, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine are currently facing a $100 million USD lawsuit over a Beats royalties issue.
