With Air Max Day right around the corner, Nike is celebrating in a major way. A trio of Air Max 270-centric installations will be set up in three major cities, with an array of artists tapped to provide unique art.
With “Air Moves” galleries queued up for Los Angeles and New York, Nike has appropriately sourced artwork from a host of local creatives, sidestepping the controversies of H&M. Ranging from Adam Lucas, no longer known as Hanksy, to child artist Dear Giana, the contributing artists range from graffiti veterans to low-key illustrators. Each piece takes inspiration from, or centers around, the new Air Max 270 — some pieces deconstruct the sneaker or show it in action, while others reimagine it in a variety of colors, textures and shapes.
Nike offers a closer look at the artists and art with distinct posts for its Los Angeles and New York galleries. We have the dates and locations for each below. Meanwhile, take a closer look at the multiple colorways of ACRONYM’s collaborative Air VaporMax Moc.
2 busy 2 bother posting to social media. which i've been drifting further and further away from. this beloved social suck we constantly double tap tap. years ago when i signed up, giving away public persona w/ a handle and a password1234, it seemed like a no-brainer. post a post & get a few thousand likes. i was content w/ my content and my numbers grew. blame the algorithm or blame change of focus, but my true-blue routine started to erode. i stopped making viral work. i lost 5k followers. anxiety crept in/out & in again. social media was meant to be fun but here we are feeling immense pressure to follow irrational guidelines of our design. so i just stopped caring. soon enough i forgot about the likes/mentions and the make-believe pressure. Instagram&Co are a useful and valuable tool, im just going to be using that tool differently. while i lean into more elaborate projects, expect more day2day life. here i am working on a project for @nike. more on that soon. #stillkindacareaboutthelikes
