Nike's Air Vapormax "BHM" Pays Homage to Olympian Colin Jackson
Honoring an olympic hero.

Nike’s “BHM” tradition continues this year on the Air Vapormax model. Its Flyknit upper mixes black and grey coloring while the popular Vapormax unit incorporates green and red to the midfoot and heel respectively. To honor Olympic hurdler Colin Jackson, the Swoosh stamps the date “08-20-1993” in gold to acknowledge Jackson breaking the 110m record at 12.91 seconds (embedded below). The difficult feat would last over ten years. The combination of red, black and green are also added to the sneaker’s heel stripe in addition to each insole while Nike’s “BHM” logo is added to the tongues for the final touch.
At 50 years old Colin Jackson would come out as gay, placing him as an inspiration to all and within the LBGTQ community. Nike’s Air Vapormax “BHM” is slated to drop ahead of Black History Month on January 15 for a retail price of $205 USD at select Nike retailers.
