Devin Booker Salutes the Air Jordan 1 "Metallic Purple" With His Latest Nike Book 1 PE
The NBA’s current PE king kept the heat coming during the Suns’ recent showdown with the Grizzlies.

Devin Booker’s barrage of Book 1 PEs is rolling right along, and the latest model from the greater Nike archives to get a salute from the Phoenix Suns guard is the Air Jordan 1 “Metallic Purple.” Booker took the court for the Suns’ January 7 game against the Memphis Grizzlies wearing the unique PE pair, which nods to its inspiration with a simple-and-clean white/purple color scheme highlighted by glossy purple Swooshes and collar detailing, plus Booker’s signature “BOOK” hit on the tongue.
The “Metallic Purple” is an OG 1985 colorway of the Air Jordan 1, which has since been re-released twice: first in 2009, then again in 2021 as a women’s exclusive. It’s one of five OG metallic makeups of Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker alongside the “Metallic Red,” “Metallic Navy,” “Metallic Orange” and “Metallic Green.” Booker’s PEs tend to nod to his favorite retro sneakers, so this “Metallic Purple” Book 1 joins other exclusive makeups like the “Shattered Backboard” and “Neon” in saluting the Swoosh’s archives.
Though the “Metallic Purple” offered a pristine match for the Suns’ home jerseys, they fell to the Grizzlies 121-115, despite Booker’s 24 points and eight rebounds. Don’t hold your breath waiting for the shoe to see a release either, as it was explicitly created for Booker’s on-court wear. However, you can expect in-line colorways of the Nike Book 1 — one of 2024’s most anticipated sneakers — to start touching down in the coming months.
