Closer Look at the Social Status x Nike Attack “Silver Linings”
Featuring concealed “Red Stardust” Swooshes and a special bodega-inspired shoe box.
Purpose is the thread that weaves through every Social Status project. As a leading storyteller in the sneaker industry, Social Status has leveraged its position to put forth collaborations that matter, with releases such as last year’s Air Max Penny 1 backed by a back-to-school initiative.
Looking beyond the hype, James Whitner and his team’s focus is unwavering as they continuously center the conversation around personal stories. In 2021, the “Strawberry Milk” and “Chocolate Milk” Dunks were designed as a tribute to the United States’ free lunch program — an initiative that countless underserved families around the country rely on for support, a story personal to Whitner’s childhood.
Adding to the story, Social Status is back with Nike, bringing the shining moments of “The 1st & 15th” to the recently-revived Attack silhouette. Its first chapter — built around the “Silver Linings” colorway — immortalizes the joy one finds on the first and fifteenth days of the month, the days food stamps, disability checks and more would touch down. At that moment, one is on top of the world — the two weeks of grinding have paid off. Per usual, the creative masterminds at Social Status have teamed up with Loyd Visuals to bring “The 1st & 15th” story to life with a video component. The first episode, “Paper Stamps & Silver Linings,” illustrates the impact of these days and the hustle it brings out.
In identifying its unique construction, a vintage appeal arrives on the retro silhouette courtesy of not only its classic stature, but via aged detailing at the midsole and a clever use of materials. There’s more to this pair than meets the eye as both the silver collar and Swooshes can be worn down to reveal a “Red Stardust” layer. Co-branding elements are scattered throughout the sneaker, however, it’s the shoe’s special packaging that operates as the cherry on top. Bodega-inspired detailing references all ten of Social Status’ locations, both current and future, while even the laces are considered with a candy box-inspired presentation.
The first of four colorways to come from Social Status and Nike, the Attack “Silver Linings” is launching via Social Status today at 11am EDT.
In case you missed it, the Travis Scott x Jordan Cut the Check is slated to release later this year.
