J Hus' New Album 'Beautiful and Brutal Yard' Is a Must-Listen
Featuring the likes of Jorja Smith, Drake, Popcaan, Burna Boy, and more.
Three years since his last album, Big Conspiracy, London-based rhymer J Hus has returned with his brand-new LP, Beautiful and Brutal Yard.
Since J Hus’ inception into the UK music game in 2015 with his summer smash record “Lean & Bop,” the East Londoner has dominated almost every summer with a slew of party-ready anthems — such as “Bouff Daddy,” “Must Be,” and “No Denying” — that have had the country two-stepping through the season and beyond. Now, Hus’ latest record provides more of the same, with the 19-tracker consisting of a slew of feel-good summer tracks, combined with bleak reportage about life in London.
Additionally, the album also contains themes of love, while other topics such as Hus’ relationships with God and the devil are explored alongside the Black British and Gambian experiences. Highlights from the record come in the form of “Massacre,” which is underpinned by a series of Afrobreat undertones, while songs such as “Cream,” featuring CB welcome a harder-hitting and more cut-throat version of Hus.
Beautiful and Brutal Yard welcomes a stellar list of high-quality features, too, with the likes of Jorja Smith, Drake, Naira Marley, Burna Boy, Villz, and Popcaan all making the cut.
