Hip-hop icon Busta Rhymes has formally slated his next studio album, Dillagence 2, for an official launch on August 25, 2026. The forthcoming effort serves as a dedicated tribute project crafted around archival, unreleased instrumental production from the late, influential beatmaker J Dilla.
The announcement arrived alongside social media footage featuring J Dilla’s mother, Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey, listening to preview tracks from the record. Serving as a direct continuation of the duo’s 2007 mixtape Dillagence, the new album stems from a massive collection of more than 300 unissued beats that the producer personally gifted to the Brooklyn-raised artist prior to his passing in 2006.
Early previews of the project surfaced during an exclusive New York gathering earlier in the year, hinting at high-profile collaborative tracks alongside artists such as Lil Wayne. The project deepens a decades-long creative relationship between both figures, who previously joined forces on celebrated tracks including “Still Shining” and “Show Me What You Got.” In a past 2020 interview, Busta revealed, “J Dilla left me with over 300 beats before he passed. ‘ve always tried to represent and uphold the legacy of the late, great J Dilla… I think Dilla is probably top three best producers in the world.”
