Nike Taps Into the 'Barbie' Craze With This Air Max Scorpion
Appearing just before the film’s release next week.
Since the beginning of its rollout, Barbie has dominated the mainstream. New music, memes and makeovers have kept the upcoming film in the conversation with its climax — the film’s actual release — rapidly approaching. Naturally, companies have done what they can to capitalize on this by embracing the world of pink. For Nike, it seems to have had the movie on its mind when designing this pink colorway of the Air Max Scorpion.
Launching last year, the elevated silhouette continues to operate as a go-to premium lifestyle sneaker for the Swoosh. Now, it dons an all-pink rendition that includes its Flyknit-chenille upper accented by black Swooshes. Adding to its Barbie aesthetic, stars have been added to the lateral Swoosh’s tail and sockliner that features a new Nike script that matches the tongue.
While Nike has yet to disclose any release details regarding this pink colorway of the Air Max Scorpion, it’s expected to land on shelves very soon to capitalize on the Barbie hype. Look for it to become available via the Swoosh and select retailers in the coming weeks at a price of $250 USD.
