Loro Piana To Outfit Team Europe for the 2023 Ryder Cup
Taking quiet luxury to the world-renowned fairway, this fall.
As the unofficial poster child for this year’s rising “quiet luxury” trend, Loro Piana’s stealthy-but-wealthy designs rank high on the list of the rich’s favorite incognito wares — and among many places, the golf course’s fairway is an ideal locale for the low-key, high-end brand to meet its loaded clientele.
In a collaboration that just makes sense, the understated label will traverse the 18 holes of this year’s Ryder Cup, as the official uniform designer for Team Europe. Of course, this isn’t the first time that Loro Piana has taken to the green; the brand has maintained a partnership with the globally-revered tournament since 2016. But, where the label placed an emphasis on fabric experimentation in previous years, the LVMH-backed brand has instead centered its focus on tailoring this time around, offering six standard-setting looks for both the competing athletes and their teams.
From September 25 to October 1 at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Loro Piana’s official on- and off-course designs will command all of Team Europe and its associates. Across a sophisticated range, the brand introduces a short-sleeved polo, donning its classic kummel tone on its shoulders and down its sleeves, as well as a high-neck shirt composed of a wool-infused Comfort Light technical fabric for improved performance. Elsewhere, a waterproof vest intends to provide free movement for players, and four-pocket pants place functionality at the fore, with crease-resistant Rain System stretch wool.
“Loro Piana’s iconic outfits have become synonymous with Team Europe and we are delighted that captain Luke Donald’s team will become the fourth successive group of players to don these exceptional products,” said Ryder Cup’s director Guy Kinnings. “Since our partnership began at the Ryder Cup in 2016, the quality of Loro Piana’s fabrics coupled with their specialist design and production knowledge have made them the ideal fit for Team Europe, ensuring that the players look and feel the part both on and off the course.”
Several Team Europe uniform pieces will be available to shop at Loro Piana’s Rome outpost throughout the tournament, with prices ranging from $520 USD to $3,450 USD. Take a first look at the designs in the gallery above.
