NIGO‘s KENZO is a multifaceted melting pot of cultural references. We’ve had sailing for Spring/Summer 2023, an ode to the late Dame Vivienne Westwood and British punks for Fall/Winter 2023, Boke flowers throughout the course of his tenure as Creative Director, and now for Spring 2023, a capsule titled “Varsity Jungle.”

The name brings together two KENZO themes — collegiate Americana as frequently explored by NIGO, and Kenzo Takada’s love for nature. Combined, we find the elephant and the tiger (nodding to both Takada’s favorite animals and the Humberto Leon and Carol Lim era) take center stage across knitwear essentials, T-shirts, and other layer-able numbers that work alongside cropped denim jackets trimmed with vintage doilies, denim A-frame skirts, K-branded cardigans, checkered socks and more that all lean into a sense of varsity.

Bringing the SS23 drop together is the Frank Lebon-shot lookbook, which emulates the sense of togetherness packs and herds of tigers and elephants have by photographing families wearing the “Varsity Jungle” capsule. Take a look at the collection above, and purchase it from KENZO stores and online now.

In other news, here is the full Mugler x H&M lookbook.
