Kenzo

KENZO is a Paris-based fashion house founded by Kenzo Takada in 1970 and has been owned by parent company LVMH since 1993. Furnished with jungle-inspired decor, the boutique served as the setting for Takada’s signature blend of Japanese and Asian influences with the construction of European high fashion. Kenzo’s iconic tiger clothing has been worn by various celebrities as well as fashion bloggers including Rihanna, Beyonce, Lorde, Selena Gomez and Swizz Beatz etc. KENZO as a brand saw its first flagship store at 3 Place des Victoires in 1976, marking the label’s expansion into a full Parisian fashion house. The first KENZO men’s ready-to-wear collection debuted six years later in 1983, followed by the children’s and home collections in 1987 and fragrances in 1988. The ‘80s and ‘90s were marked by rapid international growth for the fashion house, with stores opening as far afield as Stockholm, Hong Kong and Bangkok, while 1993 saw KENZO join the LVMH fashion conglomerate. In 2011 with the appointment of Opening Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, they revamped the label along the revolutionary spirit with which KENZO was founded. Enlisting the artistic sensibilities of French artist Jean-Paul Goude, they unveiled a bold new look in the Fall/Winter 2012 ad campaign, reintroducing the jungle to the brand. Leon and Lim continue to collaborate with avant-garde artists, musicians, actors and designers for each collection they release.
