Hikari no Yami's SS27 collection interrogates identity via the Ship of Theseus paradox.

Collection features recycled fabrics, resin-encapsulated tops, and Alpha Industries collaborations.

Campaign highlights hand-painted shirts, molded spines, and sculptural aesthetics shot in Paris.

Hikari no Yami has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, titled “Chapter 11: Parasite,” marking a pivotal evolution for the brand after ten seasons of deconstructing tailoring and philosophical concepts. Positioned between the opposing tenets of absurdism and essentialism, the collection engages with the “Ship of Theseus” paradox to question whether identity is inherently fixed or continuously rebuilt. To explore this concept, the brand dismantled and reconstructed reused fabrics – including recycled cotton, wool and Japanese nylon mesh – using hand-stitching, painting, dyeing, spraying and resin encapsulation to expose internal garment architecture and form entirely new expressions.

Key collaborations enrich the collection: Alpha Industries lends military utility silhouettes reassembled into expressions of individuality, while designer Ciera Calmeise contributes molded spines and resin tops. Artist Vanessa Vun hand-paints ink-dyed dress shirts, and Alex Yarally introduces Japanese nylon mesh tops, Supima shirting dusters, and silk chiffon hoodies. These pieces highlight the brand’s philosophy of garments as mutable, never fixed and always evolving. Captured by photographer Roman Pushkarskii, the accompanying campaign visually anchors the collection’s raw, sculptural aesthetics in stark outdoor settings.
