Square Enix‘s upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive Forspoken has now been delayed.

In a message to fans over on Twitter yesterday, the game’s developer Luminous Productions announced that Forspoken‘s original release date of May 24 has now been pushed back to October 11 to allow for more time to polish up the experience.

“Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us,” the statement reads. “To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.”

First announced back in March last year, Forspoken is a brand new property from the Final Fantasy XV studio. The story follows Frey (Ella Balinska), a New York native who finds herself thrust into the fantasy world of Athia, where she’ll confront all sorts of mystical beings to save the land from corruption while finding her way home to our world. You can learn more about the game in the trailer above.

Elsewhere in gaming, Thomas the Tank Engine has now become a boss fight in Elden Ring.
